Once Upon A Child - Arvada, CO

I had never consigned clothes before and decided to at the Once Upon a Child located off of Pinville Mathews Rd. Trusting that they are honest about not steeling your clothes, I dropped off a box with clothes (all in great condition - no stains or much wear) and came back to decide if I was going to sell what they wanted to buy. What they wanted to pay me for a few items was NOTHING compared to what they would have sold it for, so I decided not to sell anything and keep all my daughters clothes. I decided to re-fold all the clothes and noticed a four piece outfit missing. The only reason I noticed was because one of the four piece items was still in the box. I got so heated I stomped back into that store and demanded the rest of the outfit. Come to find out the item just?disappeared?. The store decided to pay me for the item and raised he for $30.00. I explained that I wanted this amount for my time, the outfit, the situation, and not to mention I don't know how many other items of mine were missing as well. The manager was so furious, that she FINALLY gave in and told me she would mail me the check and without saying another word, rudely hung up the phone on me! Lesson learned? MAKE A CHECKLIST and inventory your items before leaving! To be honest, I wasn't so upset about the clothes? it was the principle and the fact that this could have happened to many people already without them even noticing and the only ones benefiting is them.

This is a great store, I discovered it when I was pregnant with my first child and we are now 7 months pregnant with our 2nd the prices and the people that work there are very great. My only complaint is I wish they would get in more baby furniture.I find it hard to buy new kids clothes and toys now comparing the price difference you can buy like 4 outfits for the price of one its great!

I like this store, but prices seem to be going up. You just have to watch for clearace items, they are at least half off. If you buy at seasons end for the next year you can find great deals.

This is a great place to buy gently used items for cheap cost.when cash is tight. but i only recomend this if your needing somthing other then clothes.they are a bit pricey but a great place to get childrens toys!

I have gone to other Once Upon a Child stores in Colorado & out of all the stores I have ever been in this is the worst. They are disorganized, and horribly RUDE. I have some places that I won't shop at because of the people there but this one where I would prefer to go somewhere else & pay higher prices for it. They have never helped us try to find anything & they always have stuff setting towards the door that they don't have marked as being held or sold until you try to buy it.

I took a perfect condition full size swing and a ton of clothes there and was really dissappointed with the return. They gave me 55 dollars for 30 items and a swing! The clothes were gymbo and Gap. I will go to Spankys next time! I asumed that because theor consignment $ are higher they would be a good place to sell. wrong.

It is untrue that this store takes in old and worn clothes over the nicer newer ones. I shopped there many times and have sold there too. Yes, they are a bit picky on what they take, but I would rather them be that way to keep the store at a decent level. If they took in junk, their reputation would not be as good. Look at Goodwill. They have been way overpricing their items ever since they got Target's rejects. And they take junk and sell it for the same price as the good stuff. I like the fact that Once upon a child has everything organized and I know that I am getting a great brand.

Worst customer service I've experienced. Staff was unhelpful and put out when I had a problem. Their filing system made it hard for them to track my resale items, and they acted offended at even the idea that they may have made any mistakes. Even after I offered proof. They are overpriced and offer poor compensation for resale items. Items are resold for a huge mark-up. Hit a yardsale instead. Or give to goodwill.

This store has nice stuff for kids, prices are pretty moderate. however i have sold clothes here before and was given basically pennies for name brand items and was surprised at the items they didnt purchase. overall its a good place to shop for your kids if you are looking for a bargain but if your selling, dont expect to get much for your clothes, i suggest you go somewhere else. also dont donate what ever they done take, they may then take what they didnt want to pay for and resell them.

I found this place very reasonable with their prices and the products they have in stock. We alos took a bunch of containers of our daughters stuff in there and recived a lot more money than expected. Then again I live in Wooster, were there store like this is more expensive and not as much merchandice. So I would give it a A+, check it out.

I have shopped at these type of stores for years for my kids. Why buy new when you can get name brand at such a huge discount.But, I have to say that the women at this particular location are so incredibly unfriendly and completely unwilling to negotiate. This is not to say that I will stop shopping here. I have always been able to find great clothes for my kids and will continue to do so; I just know to have as little conversation as possible with the gals up front.

I was just in there about a week ago! My daughter is 3 years old and I was able to find a great selection in her size. The staff is very nice and the prices were amazing. I can't wait to go back there and shop some more.

Loaded with all kinds of great finds, lots of name brand clothes from Baby GAP, Childrens Place, Old Navy, Weeboks and many other shoes. Well organized by age, small carts for baby to sit in, or a play area if your little one prefers while you shop. I can get a whole wardrobe hardly used for less than half the prices I'm paying at Target.

I love shopping at once upon a child. The staff are awesome, I really like how they go through clothing that is donated and very carefully reject any clothing with the slightest spot or stain on it. The shows me that the clothing that I buy is in great condition. Thanks for caring.

There is a great vibe in this store. The employees are always friendly and helpfull. They are usually pretty fair on pricing when it comes to designer and big name items. Always a full house when I go in!

This store has improved immensely over the past year or so since Erik and his bride purchased it from the previous half hearted owner. It is much nicer, brighter, more organized, cleaner and friendlier. The staff is very helpful, they are generous with their purchases, prompt, and reasonable. I have never been disappointed in toys or clothing items or their prices. My only recommendation would be to drop the VHS prices, they're out of style, so price them accordingly :-) Thanks, Guys - you're doing a great job.

I love this store the only issue is on the turn around of things you bring in.You have to wait until they are able to go through it and that could be up to three days. Which to me is an inconvenience when I live fourty minutes away.

I've sold clothes and shoes here three times and I just love the fact that the workers are so helpful. I always have tons of bags and not once was I mistreated. At times it can be very crowded and time consuming but it is well worth the wait. Each time I visit the store I'm always greeted in a well manner. I'm finally glad I've found a store that will give a little back for all I've spent on clothes, shoes, toys, etc. If you are looking for a place to help you get rid of old items thats just taking up space, this is the place for you.

I give three stars, since it depends on if you are buying there or you are selling your stuff there. I would give 5 stars for buying used stuff from them since it's really cheaper and in good shape, but 1 when you try to sell your stuff, there, since you would rather make a lost. Would be better if you try to sell your good brands yourself on craigstlist for $ a piece, since they be buying it from you from for really cheap about $.25 or less but selling it for $3 - $8.

I used to go her all the time. they are over-priced and the place is WAY too packed with items. but to me it was a good deal. let me tell you the last i went i went with a friend of mine and i had a basket of items (full) waiting on the counter waiting to be checked out. it was a little busy so we looked around some more and when i went to check out, the (if only i could cuss and be blunt) she accused me of stealing a bow. i have shopped there for over three years for the last 1.5 years i have drove about an hour to be a loyal customer and i have a basket of over 200 worth of items and the. accuses me of trying to steal a 3 bow. i welcomed her to search me and all of my belongings. nothing. if thats how you treat your customers i will GLADLY go else where and i have for the last year. i found a great resale shop in denton off university, they are much CHEAPER as well. its the loyality that matters most to me though. is i could give them half a star, i would.

I took a tote full and a kitchen bag full of clothes they bought a fair amount for a fair price.They wer're friendly and taking all seasons now!Better than a garage sale in my book.Must have tags on and be freshly laundered in good condition.Will be back.They also have clearance baskets mostly girls stuff.Moving to Larger store soon!In same complex.

They overcharge for a lot of things. For instance, a small slide that was VERY faded from the sun. not the greatest condition was $20 (you can buy one new at Walmart for $35). I haven't seen anything there where I was like, wow this is a great deal. I don't buy used clothes so I can't rate them on their clothing but as far as baby/toddler gear and toys I don't recommend them. I would just do your research on the web to find better prices.

I personally would rather go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls and buy brand new items for less then what they sell stuff for in these stores. I think that $10 is a lot to pay for a used pair of jeans when I can go to one of these stores and still get a pair of brand name and brand new for around the same price. I personally think that these stores are rip offs. As far as selling to them you have to catch them on a good day or no matter if you bring in all brand new clothes with tags they still tell you that your stuff is junk. I am really big with both of my kids on name brand and up to date stuff and all of my clothes are like new condition when they get done with them and when I go there and they tell me that my clothes are worn and have stains I GET REALLY MAD because I know better. Half of the stuff on there shelves are extra worn but when they see nice stuff they say it's junk. I would rather sell on ebay I get more money and people don't tell me that my clothes are junk, they come back with great reviews on how nice the items were. I don't like these stores at all!

The OUAC on Midlothian is a good store to go to. For the most part, the staff is friendly. I have heard them talking badly about patrons on a few occasions and yapping like junior high schoolers usually do. The store on Broad Street is pretty bad. The people that work there don't seem to know what's going on. I guess they hire young people for the summer for minimum wage but come on, have some standards. The one girl I talked to acted like every question I had was an inconvience. Get with it people. And why can't they tell you how much money they will give you over the phone? Ridiculous.

I am a feshman at North Central High School and im 16 years old. im a very hard worker and i can get things done on time. i have 3 sister and i help out with them as much as i can i do my best at what i do. i get my school work done and everything.

I have shopped at once upon a child and its a great store iam a grandma my sons girlfreind gave him his son so ive been having him since he was born hes 3 and autistic he will be attending early childhood this year once upon a child has helped me so much i live in a fixed income the clothes i buy there are a help to me its been hard raising a child when your income is 630 dollars a month i try to do my best for him and dont want him to have a label of being autistic i buy the clothes there for him cause they are nice and reasonable so all of you who complain about the waiting and other complaints try an put yourself in my place as i write this review keep in mind there is always someone out there worse off than your child or children and think about trying to help someone else who really need it i never thought me and my son would be raising my granson it gets hard at times i never thought my son would have lost his job because i was sick and couldnt take care of my granson at that time we are struggling right now but love keeps us going so just think about what you say about this store it helps us and i know i will be doing my school shopping there this year thank you once upon a child honest person this is real life for us thank you.
